The City of O’Fallon provides full-time employees with a comprehensive benefits package including a choice of healthcare plans, dental coverage, vision coverage, life insurance and long-term disability coverage. This position is responsible for sponsorship and marketing for all festivals; as well as planning specific special events for the City of O'Fallon.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Solicits sponsors for festivals and events; creates and administers annual sponsorship plan for all events; solicits monetary and in-kind donations in accordance with city solicitation policies.
  • Act as liaison to communications department for media marketing of events and tourism related functions.
  • Administers Social Media Marketing for all events including but not limited to Heritage & Freedom Fest event blog, VisitOfallon Twitter account and maintaining VisitOfallon Facebook ads and posts.
  • Coordinates, organizes, and implements a variety of special events for persons of all ages and abilities; i.e. Founders Day, Garden Expo, Fall 5k/10k Run, and Tree Lighting Ceremony.
  • Assists with and, at times, leads the coordination of special events.
  • Plans, develops, implements and attends all festival events and programs including directly overseeing as required.
  • Recruits vendors, speakers, entertainers, or other event services for any or all festival events. Carry out creative and operational logistics with various city departments, utilizing volunteers where appropriate. 
  • Responsible for the creation, management and placement of all event signage and banners.
  • Maintains records for special events including databases, worksheets, and evaluations assuring for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Performs related duties.

  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices
  • Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and contract management
  • Knowledge of modern office principles and practices
  • Knowledge of computer and job related software programs
  • Skill in supervision of personnel
  • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions
  • Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports
  • Strong public relations, oral and written communication skills.

 

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one year with increasingly responsibility.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
