The Camp Assistant Director ensures the safety of camp participants in all camp related activities and to supervise all camp counselors and leaders.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Enforces policies and rules.
• Assists with the supervision of staff including hiring, orientation, scheduling, training, evaluation and termination.
• Develops and supervises the camp curriculum.
• Schedule, supervise, and coordinate day-to-day operations of the assigned programs, making refinements when needed.
• Discipline children as needed.
• Communicate with parents.
• Discipline staff as needed.
• Coordinate and run specialty camps.
• Administers first aid as needed.
• Supervises both camp locations.
• Performs related duties.


Additional Knowledge Required
• Knowledge of camp programs and childcare principles and practices.
• Knowledge of current discipline practices and behavior management.
• Knowledge of first aid and CPR.
• Knowledge of department policies and procedures.
• Skill in the management and care of children.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Leadership & management experience.
• Flexibility & good time management.


Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions
• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/ internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
• The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and occasionally heavy objects, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell.
