This position supervises and participates in the work of personnel responsible for the replacement of water mains in the City's water distribution system.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  •  Supervises and participates in water distribution maintenance and repair activities (specifically water mains).
  • Maintains assigned tools and equipment.
  • Stocks parts and supplies.
  • Schedules and coordinates work assignments.
  • Completes required reports.
  • Maintains shop and office areas.
  • Trains, assigns, direct and supervise the work of assigned personnel.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Assists other city crews as needed.
  • Performs related duties.

 

Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge of the maintenance and repair of water distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and local ordinances relevant to assigned duties.
  • Knowledge of the operation and preventive maintenance of a variety of equipment.
  • Skill in the supervision of personnel.
  • Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, calculator, copier, and facsimile machine.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.

 

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a State of Missouri drinking water distribution license within the six month probationary period.
